The summer I turned pretty: series finale

The summer I turned pretty – more like the summer we defended Conrad Fisher with our whole hearts.

Series 2 timeline lasted about a week and in that we went through a rollercoaster of emotions until TeamJellyfish ultimately won… Until Series 3 – the book lovers will know.

It’s a huge fall for the oldest Fisher brother from the start of the episode, when he’s unusually smiley and upbeat, having just nailed his bio final and locked in his transfer to Stanford. His next step is to find his girl and tell her he loves her…

…until he sees her making out with his brother against his car.

The episode plays true to book 2 in the series and follows the trio to a motel on their way to drop Belly home and Belly choosing Jeremiah instead of her long lasting crush and ex-boyfriend Conrad Fisher.

The season ends with Belly thinking that Conrad no longer cares for her and deciding to officially date Jeremiah. As the episode ends, Jeremiah takes Belly to Volleyball camp and they are happier than ever. Neither of them thinking about Conrad being heartbroken and still wanting to be with Belly. Conrad is last seen painting over the graffiti in the beach house and unpacking Junior Mint in Belly’s newly restored bedroom.

We truly find out why this season was ‘Jeremiah’s season’ when we got a fair share of Bonrad scenes.

Despite the love triangle we have going on, there are other characters and strong couples, such as Taylor and Steven. In this episode we find out that they are officially a couple. One of the best character developments in the whole show was Taylor.

How does the finale set up for season 3?

The final episode of season two leads us nicely into season three (which was recently confirmed) with Jeremiah and Belly finally getting together.

In theory, season three will then focus on their relationship. However, Conrad has now confessed his feelings for Belly, and we’re guessing those feelings aren’t exactly going to go away anytime soon. Those who have read the books will know the outcome of TeamConrad.

The third season will also hopefully give us more developments into Taylor and Steven’s relationship, and see Laurel spread her wings as a successful author after grieving the death of her best friend Susannah. And maybe we get to see Cleveland again.
