BOOK REVIEW – Death Comes to Marlow

Put on your thinking cap. It’s time for another round with the brainiest trio of amateur sleuths.

Death Comes to Marlow by Robert Thorogood is an absolutely fantastic follow up to the Marlow Murder Club series. It is the perfect cosy crime series and draws you into the characters lives and the mystery at hand.

After solving a murder last year, things have returned to normal for “The Marlow Murder Club” which consists of crossword setter Judith Potts, and her two friends, Suzie the dog sitter (and new radio personality) and Becks, the vicar’s wife.

A death in a looked room, an intriguing phone call and suspicious family members – the trio are the ones to suspect murder.

Judith is also uncovering the mystery of a strange code in the local newspaper’s crossword puzzle and the curious case of where Becks is sneaking off to with a man who most definitely isn’t her husband. I love that we got to know some of the other parts of the characters life, rather than just being nosy and trying to help the police solve murders.

Each of the ladies have unique talents and all work beautifully together as they complement each other.
The friends have each other’s backs. When one friend starts behaving out of character, the other two notice immediately and are determined to help, which is a lovely element to the story.

The tone is light-hearted and highly amusing at times and makes you smile and want to solve the murder yourself. Go get yourself a copy and enjoy the read.

I absolutely adore the Marlow Murder Mystery series and cannot wait for more books by Robert Thorogood. He is a wonderful author who writes with wit and charm, perfectly capturing the quintessential English countryside.

I love that the author is also the writer of the Death in Paradise series, which makes me quite excited to read those books too. I look forward to reading book three in the series and finding out more about what the Murder Club get up to in the small village of Marlow.
