The World Of Online During Quarantine

Depending on what day we count from, it’s been a month, or more, since the start of lockdown. With theatres, restaurants, cafes and sort of entertainment being shut, we need something while we are staying inside and helping others.

I’ve combined a list of a few of the things that are accessible online for us all. To keep the community together.

  1. Youtube.

Youtube is always a great place to watch online video content in our spare time. At this time there is all sorts of home content to be watching. Including theatre related recordings for all to watch. People like Andrew Lloyd Webber and companies such as the National Theatre having some of their shows online raising money for ‘Acting for others’.

As well as this, West End Stars Carrie Hope Fletcher and Oliver Ormson have a video series where they post every Morning and Evening on each of their channels. This is something I am watching. It is good to have a routine and always nice to watch people we know and love, especially in times like this.

Carrie’s channel is a place where many people over the years have come to watch and have someone up look up to and a video series like this is a great idea. A wonderful watch.

Below are links to their channels.

Youtube also has the world of ‘Starkid’. The musical theatre online production company run by a group of friends. They write and perform musicals and upload to their channel. I recommend watching their shows for sure. Parody Musicals such as A very Potter Musical trilogy, Twisted and Holy Musical B@tman, as well as many other original shows. With members such as AJ Holmes and Darren Criss.

2. Leave A Light On

London’s Theatre Cafe teamed up with Lambert Productions to create ‘Leave A Light On’ to raise money for the ‘Acting for Others’. The money raised goes to the charity. This is a series of weekly online concerts of West End performers coming from their homes to ours. This is a great way to keep the community together. Keep an eye on all their social media pages and instagram itself for a myriad of live streams and interviews.

3.  Netflix And Disney+

Disney+ came out at the best time and ever since I have been binge watching it. Good Luck Charlie and Lemonade Mouth are my top picks. What are yours?

As well as the classic Netflix shows and films we can watch constantly online.

We all need to keep ourselves sane and distracted. Make sure we keep in contact with those we love and talk to. And hope you all are well.
